Customize Dialog - Parts Database Manager

Lets the user customize the layout of the fields in the Parts Database Manager.

Accessed when:

You click the Customize Layout icon from the Parts Database Manager.

While new fields cannot be added or removed from the manager, you do have the capability of hiding fields from view. Custom layouts can then be saved to an XML file for reuse.

Hidden Items

The Hidden Items tabs simply shows existing fields that have been designated to be hidden in the Layout Tree View. These are for viewing purposes only.

Toolbar Options

The toolbar at the top of the dialog provides the following options:

Setting	Description
Open	Prompts you with a standard file selection dialog to open a previously saved configuration for the Parts Database Manager.
Save	Prompts you with a standard Save As dialog where you can save the current layout configuration to a .XML file.
Undo	Click to undo any previous change(s).
Redo	Click to reapply a change that may have been undone.

Layout Tree View

The Layout Tree View tab lists all of the sections/fields in the Parts Database Manager in a expandable tree view. As you select a node from the tree, it is highlighted in the Parts Database Manager. For instance if you were to expand the LayoutTable node and select the Date/Time group node, then the Date/Time tab in the manager is selected. As you make any changes in the Customization dialog, those changes are dynamically shown in the manager.

As you select a node from the tree, it is highlighted in the Parts Database Manager. For instance if you were to expand the LayoutTable node and select the Date/Time group node, then the Date/Time tab in the manager is selected as shown below. As you make any changes in the Customization dialog, those changes are dynamically updated for you to view.

To make changes, right-click on the item you wish to modify and select an option from the menu. Menu items will vary depending on what type of item is selected.

Groups

If you right-click on a group node, the following items are available:

Setting	Description
Hide Customization Form	Closes the Customization dialog. Any changes made prior to selecting this are saved.
Hide/Show Text	Toggles the display of the field description text.
Ungroup	When a group node is selected, this option dissolves the selected group. Any subgroups within the main group will retain their group status but will not be organized under a main group.
Create EmptySpace Item	Creates an empty section within the dialog. Within this space, new groups or group items can be added.
Create Tabbed Group	Creates a tabbed group node where you can added subgroups which will create multiple tabs in the Parts Database Manager. The LayoutTable group is the default tabbed group which displays the following tabs in the manager: Detailed Description Purchasing Information Dimensions Symbol Data Date/Time A tabbed group displays the following icon in the Customization dialog:

Tabbed Groups

When you click on a tabbed group node such as the default LayoutTable node, the following menu options area available:

Setting	Description
Hide Customization Form	Closes the Customization dialog. Any changes made prior to selecting this are saved.
Hide Item	Toggles the display of the field description text.
Group	Will group the tabbed items into a named section in the manager which can be labeled if desired.
Create EmptySpace Item	Creates an empty section within the dialog. Within this space, new groups or group items can be added.
Ungroup Tabbed Group	When a tabbed group is dissolved, the subgroups will still display in the manager, but will not be organized in individual tabbed sections.
Add Tab	Will add a new tab which can be populated with group items, or you can even drag a group from another section into the new tab.

Grouped Items

When click on an individual group item , which display as definable fields in the manager, the following menu options are available:

Setting	Description
Hide Customization Form	Closes the Customization dialog. Any changes made prior to selecting this are saved.
Rename	Sets the item name in the manager to a editable state so you can modify the name.
Show/Hide Text	This option toggles the display of the label text for the definable field in the manager.
Text Position	Determines how the label text is justified. (Top, Bottom, Left, Right)
Hide Item	The selected item will not be displayed in the manager. Hidden items are moved to the Hidden Items node in the Customization dialog. If you wish to display a hidden item, drag the item to the desired group in the Layout Tree.
Group	Creates a new group to include the selected item. Additional items can be added to group if desired.

Size Constraints	When a tabbed group is dissolved, the subgroups will still display in the manager, but will not be organized in individual tabbed sections.
